A Message from the Northern Alberta Canine Association…
Every year, we at NACA look forward to gathering with dog fanciers from all over to share the camaraderie and celebration that is one of the largest dog shows in Canada, and our 2020 show was no exception. However, as is everyone in Alberta, we have been closely monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic; and given the severity of the ongoing concerns around COVID-19, we have made the very difficult decision to cancel our annual dog show for 2020.
This was a very tough call to make - we know the NACA show is an incredibly important event for purebred dog fanciers - but we need to prioritize the health and safety of our exhibitors, judges, and the volunteers who put this show on. We spent a great deal of time exploring other ways to keep the show going, but truly felt we did not have enough information regarding the trajectory of COVID-19 and the future we are all on hold from, to make a sufficient educated decision to move forward with.
We apologize to all who have been affected by our decision to cancel, and please know we were highly reluctant to make this decision that might leave the fancy, many of whom depend on dog shows as their livelihood, without another show unless absolutely necessary. This was indeed an exceptional circumstance which has left so many of us with no other choice at this time, and we appreciate your understanding and support while we all do our part to keep those so dear to us safe and healthy.
We would also like everyone to take heart and know we are already working hard to plan a very special show for 2021; we hope all of you will then join us once again in the camaraderie and celebration of the wonderful purebred dog!
Stay safe and healthy, and we will see you all in 2021!
